Cohesion properties and hydrogen permeation at PdCu/TiAl interface

L. C. Liu et al.

Summary: First principles calculations were performed to compare the properties of PdCu/TiAl interfaces. The results reveal that BCC interfaces are more stable and stronger than FCC interfaces; the hydrogen solubility of PdCu/TiAl interfaces is lower than that of PdCu bulk; regarding hydrogen diffusivity, the interfaces of FCC PdCu (001)/TiAl(100) and FCC PdCu(100)/TiAl(100) are higher than PdCu bulk, while other interfaces have lower diffusivity; the decrease in hydrogen permeability of FCC PdCu(001)/TiAl (100) and FCC PdCu(100)/TiAl(100) interfaces is primarily due to the lower hydrogen solubility.

First principles calculation on cohesion properties of PdCu-Mo2C interfaces

Liucheng Liu et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the orientation of the PdCu-Mo2C interface plays a crucial role in determining interface strength, with the Mo2C(001)/PdCu(110) interface showing the highest strength. The formation of these interfaces based on a PdCu substrate is effective and thermodynamically stable, suggesting their potential formation in actual samples. The electronic structure further provides insights into the cohesion properties of these interfaces.

Substantial enhancement of hydrogen permeability of Mo2C/V composite membranes by ion beam sputtering

Xiangxin Yin et al.

Summary: Ion beam sputtering (IBS) was successfully used to prepare highly permeable Mo2C/V composite membranes for high temperature hydrogen separation. The Mo2C/V membranes prepared by IBS showed significantly higher hydrogen permeability compared to those prepared by conventional magnetron sputtering. This work demonstrates the promising potential of IBS as a technique for fabricating high temperature hydrogen separation membranes.

The factors affecting the diffusion properties of hydrogen in palladium copper alloys: Ab initio study

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: Systematic ab initio calculations were performed to investigate the factors affecting the diffusion properties of hydrogen in PdCu alloys. It was found that the diffusion barrier of hydrogen in BCC PdCu alloy is lower than that in FCC PdCu alloy. The interactions among interstitial hydrogen atoms are repulsive in BCC PdCu alloy, while they are attractive in FCC PdCu alloy. These results explain the weaker hydrogen penetration ability in FCC PdCu alloy compared to BCC PdCu alloy.

First-principles study on the dissolution and diffusion behavior of hydrogen in carbide precipitates

Yifan Li et al.

Summary: The dissolution and diffusion properties of hydrogen in transition metal carbides were studied using first-principles calculations. It was found that hydrogen tends to occupy the trigonal site in these carbides, with the bonding interaction between hydrogen and the nearest-neighbor carbon atom playing a key role in stability. Temperature-dependent solubility and diffusion coefficients were determined, with hydrogen showing poorer solubility and difficulty in migration in TMC compared to pure vanadium. Additionally, a linear relationship was observed between diffusion barrier and hydrogen solution energy in transition metal carbides.
