Yasanur Kayikci et al.

Summary: This study proposes a dynamic pricing model that uses real-time Internet of Things (IoT) sensor data to reduce food waste at the retailer stage of food supply chain in low and middle-income countries. The model takes into account various factors such as sale price, replenishment amount, discount rate, and freshness score to assist managers in making optimal decisions and actions. The results show the potential of using hyperspectral imaging sensors in the retailer's food supply chain.

Determinants of quality and food safety systems adoption in the agri-food sector

Gema Barbancho-Maya et al.

Summary: This paper aims to define the determining factors that affect the adoption of quality and food safety standards in agri-food companies. A literature review is conducted to identify motivations, benefits, barriers, and contingency factors, and their scope and contribution to company quality management are analyzed. The findings reveal that access to new markets and compliance with legislation are the most important motivations and benefits, while the high cost of adopting quality and food safety systems is the primary barrier. The size of the company is identified as the most relevant contingency factor. Considering these determinants can lead to better implementation of quality and safety standards in agri-food companies.
