Examining ecological strategies adopted by agricultural exporting firms in an emerging country

Summary: This study investigates the institutional determinants of ecological strategies adopted by agricultural exporting firms and how these strategies enhance the firms' competitive advantage and financial performance. The results reveal that market pressure, regulatory pressure, and competitive pressure motivate the adoption of ecological strategies among surveyed agricultural exporting firms. Furthermore, the study finds that these strategies help the firms obtain competitive advantage and improve their export financial performance. Additionally, larger firms are more likely to adopt ecological strategies compared to smaller firms.

Assessing and ranking international markets based on stringency of food safety measures: application of fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS method

Summary: This paper examines the stringency of food safety measures in the seafood industry, using the case of Indian seafood exporters. The study identifies key food safety measures, investigates their stringency, and ranks international markets based on the degree of stringency. The findings suggest that product and process standards, traceability requirements, and tolerance limits for residues are the most stringent measures. Additionally, the European Union, the USA, and Japan are perceived to have the most stringent food safety requirements.

Food safety in milk: Adoption of food safety practices by small-scale dairy farmers in Sri Lanka and their determinants

Trust and consumer confidence in the safety of dairy products in China

Summary: The study found that Chinese consumer confidence in domestic dairy products and trust in the actors of the dairy chain are at a moderate-to-low level. Government regulators are considered to have the most responsibility, with trust in dairy farmers and retailers having little effect. Perceived care has a stronger optimistic effect, while competence and openness have different effects on consumer confidence.

Data-driven optimal dynamic pricing strategy for reducing perishable food waste at retailers

The results show the potential of using hyperspectral imaging sensors in the retailer's food supply chain.

Determinants of quality and food safety systems adoption in the agri-food sector

Summary: This paper aims to define the determining factors that affect the adoption of quality and food safety standards in agri-food companies. A literature review is conducted to identify motivations, benefits, barriers, and contingency factors, and their scope and contribution to company quality management are analyzed. The findings reveal that access to new markets and compliance with legislation are the most important motivations and benefits, while the high cost of adopting quality and food safety systems is the primary barrier. The size of the company is identified as the most relevant contingency factor. Considering these determinants can lead to better implementation of quality and safety standards in agri-food companies.
