Experimental study on the shear behavior of friction connections with corrosion damage

Chao Jiang et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the corrosion effects on the shear behavior of friction connections. The results show that the bearing capacity of corroded connections does not significantly decrease within 10% weight loss, but the slip factor varies with the degree of corrosion. A prediction model for the frictional resistance of the connections is proposed, and the effects of corrosion on the bearing capacity are analyzed.

Post-fire hysteretic and low-cycle fatigue behaviors of Q345 carbon steel

Yvbin Guo et al.

Summary: A series of material tests were conducted to study the cyclic loading behavior of Q345 carbon steel after fire exposure. The results indicate that water immersion cooling following a medium or large fire significantly affects the cyclic behavior of Q345 steel, potentially compromising its seismic performance.

Deterioration of fatigue strength of bolted connection plates under combined corrosion and fatigue

Le Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the combined effect of corrosion and fatigue on the fatigue strength of steel connection plates is investigated, and a model for fatigue strength degradation is developed. It is found that simultaneous corrosion and fatigue environment can lead to higher degradation in fatigue strength, with reduction in grain size of steel plates being one of the main mechanisms.
