Grain growth and fatigue behaviors of GH4169 superalloy subjected to excessive ultrasonic surface rolling process

Jing Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fatigue behaviors of GH4169 superalloy with a gradient nanostructure layer introduced by ultrasonic surface rolling process (USRP). The results show that the fatigue resistance of the alloy is enhanced due to improved surface integrity. However, excessive USRP treatment leads to grain growth and degradation of fatigue resistance. The mechanism of grain growth in the alloy is revealed.

A high-entropy alloy with dislocation-precipitate skeleton for ultrastrength and ductility

Yongkun Mu et al.

Summary: In this study, a combination of high-density dislocation structures and high-volume-fraction ductile nano-precipitates was successfully achieved in a high-entropy alloy using a three-dimensional printing technique. The resulting structure, known as the dislocation-precipitate skeleton architecture, demonstrated ultra-high tensile strength and significant ductility, which were attributed to the synergistic strengthening of dislocation-precipitation and the evolution of multiple stacking fault structures.

Summary: In this study, a fast and robust analytical model based on Hertzian contact theory and Neuber?s plasticity law was developed to predict residual stress generated by UNSM. Sensitivity studies and linear regression analysis were conducted to investigate the effects of UNSM parameters on residual stress distribution and surface finish. The study highlights the importance of balancing residual stress and surface finish when choosing UNSM parameters and introduces an experimental design to find optimal parameters for different engineering needs.
