Alcohol consumption is associated with widespread changes in blood DNA methylation: Analysis of cross-sectional and longitudinal data

Pierre-Antoine Dugue et al.

Summary: This study reveals that alcohol consumption is associated with widespread changes in DNA methylation across the genome, with some methylation sites changing with changes in alcohol consumption. These associations were stronger in women, non-smokers, and individuals genetically predisposed to consume less alcohol.

DNA Methylation in Peripheral Blood and Risk of Gastric Cancer: A Prospective Nested Case-control Study

James A. Chamberlain et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential of blood DNA methylation as a biomarker for predicting gastric cancer risk, but the results showed no significant association between blood DNA methylation and gastric cancer risk. Despite this, the importance of early diagnosis in gastric cancer remains, and the search for relevant markers continues.

Biological Aging Measures Based on Blood DNA Methylation and Risk of Cancer: A Prospective Study

Pierre-Antoine Dugue et al.

Summary: Recent research examined the association between methylation-based measures of aging (PhenoAge and GrimAge) and cancer risk, revealing potential insights into the relationship between biological aging and cancer, particularly in relation to lung cancer.

Methylation marks of prenatal exposure to maternal smoking and risk of cancer in adulthood

Pierre-Antoine Dugue et al.

Summary: The study revealed a strong positive association between DNA methylation marks of prenatal exposure to maternal smoking and increased risk of urothelial cancer. Potential negative associations were observed with risk of lung cancer and B-cell lymphoma. No associations were found for other cancers.
