Lipophorin receptor regulates the cuticular hydrocarbon accumulation and adult fecundity of the pea aphidAcyrthosiphon pisum

Jian-Wen Qiao et al.

Summary: Cuticular hydrocarbons protect terrestrial insects from water loss, while lipophorin serves to transport lipids, including hydrocarbons, in insects. The lipophorin receptor gene (ApLpR) in pea aphids plays a key role in female fecundity and cuticular hydrocarbon accumulation, as well as protecting aphids from desiccation stress. Manipulating the ApLpR gene through RNAi could be a potential target for insect pest management.

Roles of LmCDA1 and LmCDA2 in cuticle formation in the foregut and hindgut of Locusta migratoria

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that LmCDA1 and LmCDA2 have distinct but overlapping functions in the formation of cuticular intima in the foregut and hindgut of insects. Knockdown experiments using RNA interference against LmCDA1 and LmCDA2 resulted in different effects on the cuticle of the foregut and hindgut, indicating their critical roles in chitin organization in insect cuticles.
