Impact of dimethoxymethane-diesel fuel blends on the exhaust soot's evolutionary behavior

Mingzhang Pan et al.

Summary: The physicochemical properties of soot, such as graphitization degree and surface functional groups of DMM-diesel blends, were studied using various spectroscopic techniques. It was found that the increase in loads led to a higher graphitization degree with different fuels, and the use of DMM reduced the proportion of unsaturated fuels. Sensitivity analysis showed that certain ratios significantly affected the apparent activation energy of soot.

Effects of PODE/diesel blends on particulate matter emission and particle oxidation characteristics of a common-rail diesel engine

Junheng Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that adding PODE to diesel fuel can effectively reduce smoke emissions, with the reduction becoming more significant with higher PODE blending ratios. The particle concentration distribution shifts towards smaller particle sizes and the total particle number concentrations decrease as PODE blending ratio increases. Additionally, the chemical properties and activation energy of pyrolysis reaction of particles are altered.
