A Modified Triaxial Apparatus for Soils under High-Frequency, Low-Amplitude Vibrations

Tao Xie et al.

Summary: A modified triaxial apparatus was developed to study the behavior of cohesionless soil under high-frequency, low-amplitude vibrations. The apparatus allows vibrations to be superimposed on a monotonic loading process through an added dynamic loading module. Tests were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and performance of the modified apparatus.

Vibro-fluidization of sand under coupled static loading and high-frequency cyclic loading

Ning Dai et al.

Summary: Research has shown that high-frequency loading leads to reductions in axial stress and volumetric strain in granular soil. The reduction in axial stress can be as high as 40%, while the reduction in volumetric strain is permanent and can approach 0.1%. These reductions, along with excess pore pressure, vary linearly with vibration acceleration when a/g > 0.02. The strength and strains are influenced by loading acceleration and effective cell pressure, but are independent of loading duration, water content, frequency, and initial density.

Development of extended STZ model for granular soils subjected to combined static loading and vibration

Tao Xie et al.

Summary: An extended STZ model is proposed in this paper to investigate the vibration-induced shear resistance reduction (ViSRR) of granular materials. The model considers the coupling effect between vibration and quasi-static loadings and incorporates both shear and volumetric deformations.
