Dynamic response of sheet-pile groin under tidal bore considering pile-pile mutual interaction and hydrodynamic pressure

Tao Wu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the dynamic response of a sheet-pile groin. The pile and sheet that make up the groin are simulated using the Euler beam and one-dimensional rod, while Biot's poroelastic theory is used to simulate the behavior of the saturated soil. Interaction factors considering the pile-pile mutual interactions are used, and radiation wave theory is employed to simulate the hydrodynamic pressure. The theoretical solutions to the dynamic response in the frequency and time domains are obtained through matrix calculations and Fourier transform. Parametric analysis is conducted to study the influence of various factors on the dynamic horizontal complex impedance of the sheet-pile groin.

Vertical vibration of end-bearing single piles in poroelastic soil considering three-dimensional soil and pile wave effects

Changjie Zheng et al.

Summary: This paper presents an analytical solution to describe the dynamic interaction between a single end bearing pile and its surrounding poroelastic soil. The solution considers both the two-phase soil and the pile as three-dimensional continua, allowing for the analysis of wave propagation and its effects on pile response.

Transverse seismic response of end-bearing pipe piles to S-waves

Changjie Zheng et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method for the seismic analysis of open-ended pipe piles, considering the kinematic interaction between the pile and its surrounding soil. It investigates the sensitivity of pipe piles' seismic response to different parameters and finds that bending stiffness governs their seismic behavior. The presented solution offers a low-cost alternative for preliminary seismic design.

Kinematic seismic response of end-bearing piles to S-waves

Changjie Zheng et al.

Summary: In this paper, a Tajimi-type continuum elastodynamic model is used to analytically model the kinematic interaction between a single pile and its surrounding soil under seismic shear waves. The model is validated against numerical simulations and an existing approximate solution. A parametric study is then conducted to investigate the sensitivity of the seismic response of piles to key problem parameters. The study provides closed-form expressions for pile deformations and soil resistance without requiring fitting coefficients.

Influence of defects on the lateral dynamic characteristics of offshore piles considering hydrodynamic pressure

Libo Chen et al.

Summary: This paper develops an analytical framework to study the effects of soil-pile interaction and water-pile interaction on the lateral dynamic characteristics of offshore concrete piles. The results show that the hydrodynamic pressure and defects have significant impacts on the lateral dynamic impedance and natural frequency of offshore piles.

An analytical solution of a horizontally vibrating pile considering water-pile-soil interaction on viscoelastic half-space

Yiming Huang et al.

Summary: The water-pile-soil model on viscoelastic half-space is developed to study the dynamic responses of an end-bearing pile under horizontal dynamic loads. The displacement response of the pile is obtained by solving the pile-soil and pile-water systems separately. The present solution is compared with numerical method and can be applied to evaluate the relationships between water and pile-soil parameters in the design of offshore cast-in-place piles, with a focus on the influence of the soil viscoelastic half-space shear modulus.

An analytical solution of a horizontally vibrating pile considering water-pile-soil interaction on viscoelastic half-space

Yiming Huang et al.

Summary: The study developed a water-pile-soil model to investigate the dynamic responses of an endbearing pile subjected to horizontal dynamic loads in a viscoelastic half-space. The results suggest that it is necessary to consider the influence of the viscoelastic half-space on the pile end soil when designing offshore cast-in-place piles.
