Gabbroic eclogites formed during rapid and cold subduction of the Paleo-Tethys oceanic lithosphere in the Changning-Menglian orogenic belt, southeastern Tibetan plateau

Huining Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents the research on newly discovered gabbroic eclogites in the Changning-Menglian orogenic belt. These rocks, found in a mountain belt in the southeastern Tibetan plateau, are possibly derived from gabbro, a key component of oceanic ophiolite. The results indicate that these gabbroic eclogites formed in the subduction regime of the Paleo-Tethys, providing insights into their metamorphic evolution during the burial-exhumation cycle.

Melting of subducted slab dictates trace element recycling in global arcs

Huijuan Li et al.

Summary: The element ratios in global primitive arc basalts are found to be similar to those of sediment and/or oceanic crustal melts, rather than aqueous fluids or melange melts. This suggests that slab melt is primarily responsible for element recycling to the arc.

Tectonic erosion and deep subduction in Central Tibet: Evidence from the discovery of retrograde eclogites in the Amdo microcontinent

Yinbiao Peng et al.

Summary: This study reports the new finding of retrograde eclogites within the Amdo microcontinent and examines their metamorphic evolution and geological environment. The characteristics of the eclogites and the age dating results of zircon and rutile indicate that these rocks formed in a back-arc basin tectonic setting and went through multiple metamorphic stages.

Crustal material recycling induced by subduction erosion and subduction-channel exhumation: A case study of central Tibet (western China) based on P-T-t paths of the eclogite-bearing Baqing metamorphic complex

Xin Jin et al.

Summary: The discovery of the Baqing eclogite-bearing high-pressure metamorphic complex in central Tibet, China, provides a unique opportunity to study the processes of exhumation, the origin of subduction-related magmatism, and the crustal structure. This research helps to better understand the subduction and exhumation processes that play a key role in crustal recycling, and sheds light on the geological characteristics and composition of the region.

Early Paleozoic high-temperature metamorphism of garnet amphibolite in the Longyou area, Cathaysia Block of South China: P-T path and tectonic implications

Jiahui Qian et al.

Summary: Garnet amphibolite in the Longyou area of the Cathaysia Block in South China shows a prominent porphyroblastic texture, with a high-temperature P-T evolution involving four stages and reflecting medium-pressure facies series metamorphism. The late retrograde stage indicates decompression and cooling, suggesting a connection between early Paleozoic metamorphism and an intraplate orogenic setting.

Identification of continental-type eclogites in the Paleo-Tethyan Changning-Menglian orogenic belt, southeastern Tibetan Plateau: Implications for the transition from oceanic to continental subduction

Huining Wang et al.

Summary: The discovery of continental-type eclogites in the Changning-Menglian orogenic belt challenges traditional views of subduction-accretion belts and provides evidence for the presence of significant volumes of subducted continental fragments derived from the Baoshan-Tengchong Block.
