Cr-doped bismuth tantalate pyrochlore: Electrical and thermal properties, crystal structure and ESR, NEXAFS, XPS spectroscopy

N. A. Zhuk et al.

Summary: The Bi1.6Cr0.8Ta1.6O7 +/-Delta pyrochlore was synthesized and its thermal stability and properties were studied. The unit cell parameter and thermal expansion coefficient showed slight changes at different temperatures. Furthermore, the existence of shallow and deep traps, as well as the dominance of ion transfer at high temperatures, were observed through electron spin resonance spectrum and analysis of ion charge states.

2D/2D α-Fe2O3/single-layer MXene Schottky photocatalysis-PMS activation bidirectionally enhanced coupling system for environmental remediation

Changhao Yao et al.

Summary: The coupling of photocatalytic process with persulfate activation can release active groups synergistically, showing great potential in environmental remediation. This study designs a 2D/2D alpha-Fe2O3/single-layer MXene Ti3C2/Peroxymonosulfate (PMS) Schottky-scheme photocatalytic-PMS activation coupled system with bidirectional strengthening properties. This system exhibits excellent pollutant degradation activity with ultra-high apparent rate constant, and it is proven that the active group with the highest contribution is 1O2 originated from the preferential reaction between photogenerated holes and PMS. This work provides a suitable direction for designing coupled systems for environmental remediation using sustainable energy sources.

Thermal expansion, crystal structure, XPS and NEXAFS spectra of Fe-doped bismuth tantalate pyrochlore

N. A. Zhuk et al.

Summary: The thermal behavior, crystal structure, and charge state of ions in a new pyrochlore material Bi1.6Fe0.8Ta1.6O7.6 were studied. It was found that iron ions occupy octahedral positions of tantalum ions, and the sample exhibits a loose microstructure and good thermal stability at high temperatures.

Highly red luminescent Nb2O5:Eu3+ nanoparticles in silicate host for solid-state lighting and energy conversion

Fabio Jose Caixeta et al.

Summary: Nanostructured Eu3+-doped materials with high intrinsic quantum yield and color purity for red emission were prepared using a new sol-gel route, showing potential for solid-state lighting and energy conversion. The distribution of Eu3+ ions in nanoscaled Nb2O5 particles significantly affects emission profile and efficiency, with high quantum yield up to 65% and red color purity up to 90.1% obtained. These materials have the potential to be used as planar waveguides for solar cell concentrators and to enhance solar cell efficiency.

High carrier separation efficiency for a defective g-C3N4 with polarization effect and defect engineering: mechanism, properties and prospects

Xiaojuan Bai et al.

Summary: Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as a green, visible-light-driven metal-free semiconductor material has significant importance in environmental purification and energy conversion. Creating defects to induce a polarization effect is a promising strategy for improving the photocatalytic properties of g-C3N4. The relationship between defects and the polarization effect in enhancing photocatalytic performance needs further clarification.
