Corporate Users' Attachment to Social Networking Sites: Examining the Role of Social Capital and Perceived Benefits

Suparna Dhar et al.

Summary: This paper examines the attachment of corporate users to social networking sites (SNS) and their impact on work. The survey results show that corporate users' socialization on large public SNS brings perceived work-related benefits, which in turn strengthens their attachment. Social use outperforms informational use in generating work-related benefits. Weak ties in networks have strategic and operational benefits, while strong ties are limited to operational benefits.

Summary: This research investigates why individuals resume using social networking sites after terminating their use, proposing a theory-driven model of SNS resumption.
