A deep learning approach in automated detection of schizophrenia using scalogram images of EEG signals

Zulfikar Aslan et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for automatically detecting schizophrenia from EEG records with high accuracy, using 2D time frequency features and training with VGG16 deep learning network architecture. It shows a high success rate in classifying SZ patients and healthy individuals, achieving satisfactory accuracy levels of 98% and 99.5%, respectively. Visualizing the learning outcomes of the CNN network helps distinguish between SZ patients and healthy individuals.
