End-users? knowledge and perception about security of clinical mobile health apps: A case study with two Saudi Arabian mHealth providers?

Bakheet Aljedaani et al.

Summary: Mobile health apps (mHealth apps) are increasingly adopted in the healthcare sector, but they face security and privacy challenges. This research investigates the security awareness of end-users of mHealth apps in Saudi Arabia and finds that while security awareness varies based on IT knowledge and education level, it is not significantly affected by gender, age, and frequency of app usage. The majority of end-users are unaware of existing security features, desire usable security, and are concerned about privacy. Peer guidance and training from app providers can enhance security awareness and trust in mHealth apps.
