Influence of Pits on the Tribological Properties and Friction-Induced Vibration Noise of Textured Tapered Roller Bearings

Yueyong Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of pits on the tribological properties and friction-induced vibration noise of textured tapered roller bearings under starved lubrication. Pits were created on the outer ring surface using laser marking equipment. The results showed that the pit-textured surfaces exhibited lower friction force and wear loss compared to smooth surfaces. The presence of pits also had the potential for vibration absorption and noise suppression.

Influence of dimple textures on the tribological performances of tapered roller bearings under starved lubrication

Yueyong Wang et al.

Summary: The influence of dimple textures on the friction and wear properties of tapered roller bearings (TRBs) under starved lubrication was studied. The pattern parameters, including dimple diameter, depth, and area density, were investigated. The results showed that dimple-textured TRBs exhibited lower average coefficients of friction and wear losses compared to non-textured bearings. The area density had the greatest impact on the coefficient of friction curve. The study provides valuable insights for the research on raceways of textured TRBs.

Tribological behavior of laser textured rolling element bearings under starved lubrication

Risheng Long et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence of dimples on the tribological properties of rolling element bearings under starved lubrication. The results show that, within a certain range, the textured bearings with appropriate diameter and depth of dimples can significantly improve the friction and wear properties of the bearings. Specifically, the textured bearings with a diameter of 250 μm and a depth of 8 μm exhibit excellent friction reduction ability and wear resistance.

Research on the Friction and Wear Properties of Dents Textured Rolling Element Bearings under Dry Wear

Shaoni Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of dents on the tribological behavior of rolling element bearings. It finds that bearings with dents have higher coefficients of friction but the wear losses depend on the combination of dent parameters. The depth of dents has a more significant impact on the tribological performance of textured bearings compared to the diameter of dents.

Tribological behavior of dimples textured rolling element bearings under stepped load and starved lubrication

Risheng Long et al.

Summary: This study aims to report the tribological behavior of dimples textured rolling element bearings under variable load and starved lubrication. The research found that the average coefficient of friction of dimples textured bearings is generally reduced under stepped load and starved lubrication, while their mass losses increased. The depth-diameter ratio and effective volume coefficient of dimples are important factors affecting the friction and wear properties.

Influence of characteristic parameters on the tribological properties of vein-bionic textured cylindrical roller thrust bearings

Chao Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, three types of vein-bionic textures were designed on the raceways of cylindrical roller thrust bearings using a fiber laser marking system. The effects of different veins and vein-structure characteristics on the tribological behavior of vein-bionic textured bearings were investigated. The results showed that the original vein-bionic pattern inspired by the Ash had the best friction-reducing performance, while the texture with the no-chief vein obtained by Clausena lansium had the best wear resistance.

Influence of groove dimensions on the tribological behavior of textured cylindrical roller thrust bearings under starved lubrication

Risheng Long et al.

Summary: This study revealed the friction and wear performance of grooves textured cylindrical roller thrust bearings with different groove dimensions under starved lubrication. The results showed that bearings with grooves had significantly reduced average coefficients of friction and wear losses. The depth of grooves had a significant influence on the coefficient of friction curves, while the influence of groove width was weaker.

Improvement of Deep Groove Ball Bearing's Performance Using a Bionic Textured Inner Race

K. E. Ch Vidyasagar et al.

Summary: Research has shown that bioinspired textures can improve the tribological performance of contact surfaces under lubricated conditions, but practical application is hindered by manufacturing challenges. In this study, snake-skin type textures were fabricated on the inner race of commercial radial ball bearings using a nanosecond fiber laser machine, resulting in improved tribological performance under lubricated conditions.

Influence of groove dimensions on the tribological behavior of textured cylindrical roller thrust bearings under starved lubrication

Risheng Long et al.

Summary: This paper reveals the friction and wear performance of grooves textured cylindrical roller thrust bearings under starved lubrication with different groove dimensions. It found that the grooves significantly reduce the coefficients of friction and wear losses, with the depth of grooves having a significant influence on the COF curves. The study provides valuable insights for the raceway design and reliability optimization of rolling element bearings.
