Chemical looping partial oxidation (CLPO) of toluene on LaFeO3 perovskites for tunable syngas production

Yi Lv et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of LaFeO3 perovskites as oxygen carriers for the chemical looping partial oxidation (CLPO) process to convert tar to high-purity syngas. The template synthesis method demonstrates the best performance, with high toluene conversion efficiency, CO selectivity, and recyclability. The H2/CO ratio in the syngas products can be adjusted within a certain range by controlling the reaction time of toluene catalytic cracking. The research also proposes a new in-situ CLPO process for tar-containing syngas purification to achieve tunable H2/CO ratio.

LaFe1-xNix as a Robust Catalytic Oxygen Carrier for Chemical Looping Conversion of Toluene

Haiming Gu et al.

Summary: Chemical looping biomass gasification is a novel technology that converts biomass into syngas. In this study, LaFe1-xNix was investigated as a catalytic oxygen carrier for the conversion of toluene into syngas. The results showed that LaFe and LaNi exhibited better performance in promoting syngas production compared to other oxygen carriers. The addition of steam and the increase in steam/carbon ratio were found to promote toluene steam reforming and carbon gasification, leading to higher C-1 and H-2 yields. LaFe0.6Ni0.4 demonstrated a strong reactivity stability during toluene conversion.

Synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate over CaO-SBA-15 catalyst

Jianyu Zhu et al.

Summary: The transformation of glycerol into high value-added fine chemicals has attracted increasing attention in the biodiesel industry. Researchers successfully prepared a highly active mesoporous CaO-SBA-15 solid base catalyst for glycerol carbonate synthesis and systematically investigated its physicochemical properties and structure-activity relationships. The strong interaction between CaO and SBA-15 was found to be responsible for the excellent catalytic performance, providing more reactive sites for the reaction.
