Embodied Navigation in Immersive Abstract Data Visualization: Is Overview plus Detail or Zooming Better for 3D Scatterplots?

Summary: The study found that both zoom and overview are more beneficial than standard locomotion support in immersive environments. However, the superiority of each variation depends on the task. Analyzing the results in terms of a time-cost model for different components of navigation provided a more nuanced understanding of the findings.
