Reinforcement-Learning-Guided Source Code Summarization Using Hierarchical Attention

Summary: Code summarization is important for software maintenance and code retrieval. However, current approaches suffer from limitations such as ignoring code hierarchy and features that capture the correlations between code and comments. This paper proposes a hierarchical attention network approach that incorporates multiple code features and uses deep reinforcement learning for comment generation. Experimental results demonstrate its superiority over baseline and state-of-the-art methods in terms of BLEU-1, S-BLEU, and C-BLEU.
