Methods of image recognition of overhead power line insulators and ice types based on deep weakly-supervised and transfer learning

Summary: This paper proposes an image intelligent analysis method for insulator icing monitoring. It establishes a dataset of insulator icing monitoring images through rules for data cleaning, classification, and annotation. The method uses a weakly supervised and phased transfer learning approach to recognize insulators and different types of ice. The proposed method achieves good accuracy and efficiency, and enables intelligent image annotation through image pseudo-labelling.
