Deep learning-based denoising of low-dose SPECT myocardial perfusion images: quantitative assessment and clinical performance

Narges Aghakhan Olia et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of dose reduction in SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging without compromising diagnostic accuracy. A deep learning approach was used to synthesize full-dose images from low-dose images at different reduction levels, with quantitative assessment conducted using established metrics and clinical evaluation.

Direct and indirect strategies of deep-learning-based attenuation correction for general purpose and dedicated cardiac SPECT

Xiongchao Chen et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to develop novel indirect approaches to improve the attenuation correction (AC) performance for dedicated single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and compare the AC performance between direct and indirect approaches for both general purpose and dedicated SPECT. The results showed that indirect approaches demonstrated superior AC performance compared to direct approaches for both types of SPECT.

Definition and epidemiology of coronary microvascular disease

Conor Bradley et al.

Summary: Ischemic heart disease is a leading cause of death worldwide, but many patients referred for coronary angiography do not have obstructive coronary artery disease. Approximately two in five patients are diagnosed with coronary microvascular disease, which is often associated with coronary artery disease and myocardial disease. Coronary microvascular disease leads to increased morbidity, decreased quality of life, higher healthcare resource utilization, and adverse cardiovascular events. However, this condition is often overlooked and the management of these patients remains uncertain.

Deep-Learning Generation of Synthetic Intermediate Projections Improves 177Lu SPECT Images Reconstructed with Sparsely Acquired Projections

Tobias Ryden et al.

Summary: The study aimed to reduce Lu-177-SPECT acquisition time by decreasing the number of projections and adding deep-learning-generated synthesized projections. Results show that adopting this approach considerably recovers image quality, potentially allowing for a reduced SPECT acquisition time in clinical dosimetry protocols.
