Structural design of compressible shape-memory foams for smart self-fixable electromagnetic shielding with reduced reflection

Guoqing Wang et al.

Summary: The article emphasizes the importance of developing highly designable self-fixable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials to address the coexistence of intended and unintended electromagnetic radiation in complex and harsh environments and to minimize secondary EMI pollution. Compressible shape-memory composite foams with strong structural designability were fabricated to achieve excellent shielding effectiveness (SE) and smart self-fixable SE adjustment. The incorporation of structural design concepts, such as constructing asymmetric descending gradient structures or reasonable 3D patterns, effectively enhanced the tunability of EM reflectivity, thereby reducing EM reflection and minimizing aggravated secondary EMI pollution significantly.

Miniaturized Periodicity Broadband Absorber With Via-Based Hybrid Metal-Graphene Structure for Large-Angle RCS Reduction

Yu-Tong Zhao et al.

Summary: This article introduces a via-based hybrid metal-graphene metamaterial absorber with miniaturized periodicity, broad absorption band, and large-angle radar cross section (RCS) reduction. The absorber's unit cell consists of a cross-shaped graphene film, four metal arrow-shaped patterns, and four cylindrical vias. By extending the length of the vias and folding the pattern shape, the absorber's unit size is greatly reduced while maintaining absorption performance. The adopted hybrid metal-graphene structure reduces complexity and fabrication cost.

Investigation of the Transitions for Coplanar Waveguide to Terahertz Spoof Surface Plasmon Polariton Waveguides

Muhammed Abdullah Unutmaz et al.

Summary: This article presents the investigation and design of high-performance transitions from coplanar waveguide to single-conductor, corrugated waveguides for terahertz spoof surface plasmon polariton waveguides. A novel methodology is proposed to examine the relationship between guided wavenumber and momentum matching, allowing for the design of low-loss transition circuits. The measurement results show significant improvement in insertion losses compared to previous studies.

Partition Layout Loading of Frequency Selective Surface Absorbers on the Curved Surfaces for the Significant RCS Reduction

Ze Huang et al.

Summary: This article discusses the significant reduction of radar cross section (RCS) on curved surfaces in the low microwave frequency band. By using a design method of partition layout loading of frequency selective surface (FSS) absorbers, the surface current can be controlled to effectively reduce RCS. The comparison of scattering field intensities on different zones of the curved surface shows the importance of suppressing surface current to reduce RCS effectively.

Electrically Small, Cooling-Enhanced, Ungrounded Shielding Gasket for Compact and Wideband Integrated Circuits

Da Yi et al.

Summary: This article proposes an ungrounded shielding gasket that can be applied in the packages of integrated circuits (ICs). By taking advantage of slow-wave and SNG properties, this electrically small gasket with a transverse length of 3 mm can change and mitigate the resonances of the original package, achieving wideband shielding from 5 to 18 GHz. It is also validated that the proposed gasket benefits the heat dissipation capability of the original package, showing advantages in both shielding bandwidth and cooling performance.
