Impact of dielectric substrates on chipless RFID tag performance

Amjad Ali et al.

Summary: A five-slot hexagonal shape chipless RFID tag was designed, simulated, and manufactured on FR4 substrate to assess its performance in different configurations. The impact of various dielectric substrates on the tag's resonance quality factor (RQF), resonating frequencies, and radar cross section (RCS) was quantified. The physical geometry of the tag was adjusted to achieve high RQF in the 2-7 GHz frequency band. The optimized tag geometry was then manufactured on different substrates using appropriate manufacturing techniques and materials. The analysis of different dielectric substrate provided insights for designing novel substrates using various nanomaterials.
