Online Spatiotemporal Modeling for Robust and Lightweight Device-Free Localization in Nonstationary Environments

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: In this article, a novel multidomain collaborative extreme learning machine (MC-ELM)-based device-free localization (DFL) framework is proposed to enhance the localization performance in nonstationary environments. The environment is divided into subdomains using a clustering algorithm, and local DFL models are built for each subdomain. These local models are seamlessly integrated into a global DFL model through global optimization. The proposed MC-ELM-based DFL framework can also track the environmental dynamics by incrementally updating the model with sequentially coming data. Extensive experiments demonstrate the robustness and generalization of the framework in indoor environments.

DiverSense: Maximizing Wi-Fi Sensing Range Leveraging Signal Diversity

Yang Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method to improve the quality of sensing signal by fully exploiting the signal diversity provided by Wi-Fi hardware. The proposed DiverSense system combines sensing signals received from all subcarriers and antennas, utilizing spatial and frequency diversity. Experimental results demonstrate that DiverSense can accurately monitor human respiration in diverse environments, extending the sensing range to 40 meters, which is a 3x improvement over the current state-of-the-art.

Development of a PPG Sensor Array as a Wearable Device for Monitoring Cardiovascular Metrics

Jose Ignacio Rodriguez-Labra et al.

Summary: A wearable system using multi-channel PPG sensors with sensor fusion and machine learning models was developed for cardiovascular metrics extraction and SpO(2) prediction. The system achieved a high accuracy of 99.5% in predicting SpO(2) and was successfully applied for vascular assessment on the plant of the foot. Wearable PPG systems with sensor fusion show promise in continuous evaluation and monitoring of wounds and diseases related to abnormal blood flow.
