Convex fiber-tapered seven core fiber-convex fiber (CTC) structure-based biosensor for creatinine detection in aquaculture

Muyang Li et al.

Summary: This article proposes an optical fiber sensor probe based on the localized surface plasma resonance (LSPR) technique for the detection of creatinine in aquaculture. The sensor probe is functionalized using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), niobium carbide (Nb(2)CTx) MXene, and creatinase (CA) enzyme. The probe modifies the intrinsic total internal reflection (TIR) mechanism to increase evanescent field intensity and thus enhance sensitivity. The specific recognition is improved by Nb(2)CTx MXene adsorbing more active CA enzymes.

Double-side polished U-shape plastic optical fiber based SPR sensor for the simultaneous measurement of refractive index and temperature

Chuanxin Teng et al.

Summary: A double-side polished U-shape plastic optical fiber (POF) based SPR sensor is proposed for simultaneous measurement of refractive index (RI) and temperature. The sensor performance is influenced by the side-polish depth and angle. A two-parameters sensor can be obtained by coating a layer of PDMS film. The proposed probe has potential applications in the field of environmental monitoring.

Taper-in-taper fiber structure-based LSPR sensor for alanine aminotransferase detection

Zhi Wang et al.

Summary: This study develops a novel biosensor based on the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) principle for the detection of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) analytes. The biosensor is fabricated using a taper-in-taper structure with gold nanoparticles and other nanoparticles to improve sensing performance, and functionalized with glutamate oxidase (GluOx) on the sensor probe surface. The probe demonstrates an excellent linear relationship with ALT concentration and shows promising characteristics for diagnosing liver injury.

The Temperature Effect on U and Coil Shaped POF Sensors to Detect Refractive Index Change

Timucin Emre Tabaru

Summary: The study investigated the influence of temperature on refractive index sensors based on U and Coil-shaped plastic optical fibers. The experiments showed that at 25 degrees Celsius, the best RI change detection sensitivity, linearity, and resolution values were determined. Temperature dependence loss and temperature dependence RI deviation were also measured at different temperatures to characterize the effect of temperature change on the POF-RI sensor probes.

U-Shaped Plastic Fiber Optic Sensor for Measuring Adulteration in Liquids via RGB Color Changes

Jose D. Filoteo-Razo et al.

Summary: The study developed a low-cost optoelectronic system for measuring adulteration in liquids, specifically in tequila-water mixtures of different concentrations. The system showed a resolution of 0.3 wt% with respect to tequila concentration, and sensitivities of 0.1, 0.6, and 0.4 8-bits/wt% for red, green, and blue colors, respectively. These results can contribute to the development of an automated system for efficiently measuring adulteration in liquids like distilled spirits.
