Dual Band Radio Frequency Detector Based on the Simultaneous Excitation of Free and Reference Layer in a Magnetic Tunnel Junction

Pankhuri Gupta et al.

Summary: We demonstrate an energy efficient method of RF detection using a magnetic tunnel junction-based nanopillar for S + C and X-band. This method allows simultaneous excitation of two modes with opposite rectification voltage, enabling microwave band identification without a DC bias. Micromagnetic simulations reveal that the opposite sign of rectification voltage is due to the excitation of free and reference layers simultaneously. We also discuss a method of enhancing the bandwidth in the X-band.

Memristive control of mutual spin Hall nano-oscillator synchronization for neuromorphic computing

Mohammad Zahedinejad et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that memristive gating of W/CoFeB/MgO/AlOx-based SHNOs can effectively address the challenges of interfacing, tuning, and storing the state of large arrays of SHNOs. The memristor in its high resistance state modulates the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, while in its low resistance state it adds or subtracts current to the SHNO drive, allowing for reversible turning on/off of mutual synchronization in chains of SHNOs. This approach enables non-volatile tuning of mutual synchronization in chains of up to four oscillators and provides a path toward individual control in large oscillatory arrays.

Observation of magnetic droplets in magnetic tunnel junctions

Kewen Shi et al.

Summary: We experimentally demonstrate the generation and stabilization of magnetic droplets in magnetic tunnel junctions, which are enabled by the low torque and high pinning field provided by the double-CoFeB free-layer structure. This finding enhances the electrical sensitivity in fundamental studies of droplets and showcases the potential of utilizing droplets in MTJ-based applications and materials science.

Lina Chen et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the microwave generation characteristics of a spin Hall nano-oscillator in Pt/Ni/Fe trilayers. The results show that multiple spin-wave modes are excited by local spin currents, and the transition between these modes is significantly suppressed with temperature variation.
