Summary: Cardiorenal syndromes (CRS) have a significant impact on long-term kidney and cardiovascular outcomes, with increased risks of death, cardiovascular death, and heart failure compared to isolated heart failure (HF) or chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and ischemic stroke associated with CRS subtypes was statistically significant but not clinically significant.

Summary: Transjugular kidney biopsies have lower risk of bleeding compared to percutaneous route, especially in high-risk patients identified by risk scores. Severe bleeding is associated with increased risk of death for both routes. Transjugular route is more commonly used in certain high-risk patients.

Funduscopy: Yes or no? Hypertensive emergencies and retinopathy in the emergency care setting; a retrospective cohort study

Summary: This study found that a small percentage of patients admitted to the emergency department with suspected hypertensive emergencies had retinopathy grade III/IV. Despite the prevalence, funduscopic examination should still be performed in these patients. High blood pressure was the main characteristic associated with retinopathy grade III/IV in this patient population.
