Multiple cortical visual streams in humans

Edmund T. Rolls et al.

Summary: Using the HCP-MMP atlas, the effective connectivity between visual cortical regions in human brain was investigated. Different visual streams were found to be involved in object recognition, scene representations, language systems, and social behavior. These streams are connected hierarchically and interact with reward systems and memory systems.

Individual differences in mental imagery modulate effective connectivity of scene-selective regions during resting state

Maria Giulia Tullo et al.

Summary: Successful navigation relies on the ability to identify, perceive, and correctly process the spatial structure of a scene. Visual mental imagery plays a crucial role in navigation and is associated with the activity of relevant brain regions. This study investigated the intrinsic causal interactions among scene-selective brain regions and found that the strength of connectivity between these regions correlated with individual differences in mental imagery ability.

The entorhinal cortex of the monkey: VI. Organization of projections from the hippocampus, subiculum, presubiculum, and parasubiculum

Menno P. Witter et al.

Summary: The study revealed that inputs from the hippocampus and subicular areas to the entorhinal cortex in macaque monkeys are similar to those in nonprimate species. The topographic organization of projections from the hippocampus and subicular areas matches that of the reciprocal projections from the entorhinal cortex to the hippocampus and the subicular areas.
