Nutritional Screening and Anthropometry in Patients Admitted From the Emergency Department

Summary: This observational study evaluated the prevalence and risk of malnutrition among hospitalized patients using three nutritional screening tests, and explored the relationship between anthropometric and functional parameters used for nutritional evaluation. The study found that NRS-2002, SGA, and GLIM criteria are valuable tools for screening and assessing nutritional status, with lower scores associated with poorer nutritional status. Regular re-evaluation of patients with better screening and assessment scores is recommended for early detection of changes in nutritional status.

World guidelines for falls prevention and management for older adults: a global initiative

Summary: This article introduces the common occurrence and negative effects of falls and fall-related injuries in older adults, which impact their functional independence and quality of life, as well as increase morbidity, mortality, and health-related costs. Current guidelines are inconsistent and not globally applicable. Therefore, the objective of this study is to create evidence- and expert consensus-based falls prevention and management recommendations for older adults. These recommendations consider a person-centered approach, the perspectives of older adults, caregivers, and stakeholders, recent developments in e-health, and implementation in resource-limited locations.

Self-Care Index and Post-Acute Care Discharge Score to Predict Discharge Destination of Adult Medical Inpatients: Protocol for a Multicenter Validation Study

Prospective data involving all phases of the quasi-experimental study In-HospiTOOL at 7 Swiss hospitals will be used for external validation of the prediction instruments. The study is expected to provide evidence on prognostic properties and the reliability of scoring for screening purposes in clinical practice.
