Bayesian regional moment tensor from ocean bottom seismograms recorded in the Lesser Antilles: implications for regional stress field

Mike Lindner et al.

Summary: By deploying ocean bottom seismometers and using the Am Phi B-'Amphibious Bayesian' inversion method, the study reveals the influence of the quality of horizontal components on the research of earthquake source mechanism in the Lesser Antilles. The Bayesian formulation in Am Phi B significantly reduces the artificial compensated linear vector dipole (CLVD) contributions and improves the accuracy of the focal geometry compared to standard inversion methods. The study also analyzes the stress regimes along the subduction zone and discovers the variations in stress conditions along the arc.

November 08, 2019 Turkmanchay earthquake (Mw: 5.9) in NW Iran: an assessment of the earthquake using DInSAR time-series and field evidence

Veysel Isik et al.

Summary: The study utilized DInSAR method to analyze surface deformation of the 2019 Turkmanchay earthquake along the South Bozgush Fault Zone, revealing a WNW-ESE direction of the seismogenic fault with mainly subsidence and uplift deformations, and no surface rupture during the earthquake event.

Complex co- and postseismic faulting of the 2017-2018 seismic sequence in western Iran revealed by InSAR and seismic data

A. Fathian et al.

Summary: The largest earthquake in the Zagros Mountains struck the city of Azgeleh on the Iran-Iraq border on 12 November 2017, followed by intense seismic activity. A total of 1069 events were relocated by utilizing the double-difference earthquake location technique, revealing linear alignments of events in at least four notable clusters. The seismic sequence from 2017-2018 involved significant earthquakes in various clusters, reflecting the complex fault structures in the region.

SPiRaL: a multiresolution global tomography model of seismic wave speeds and radial anisotropy variations in the crust and mantle

N. A. Simmons et al.

Summary: SPiRaL is a global-scale model capturing wave speeds and anisotropy variations, with the ability to accurately predict event locations and long-period waveform dispersion. It serves as a starting model for full-waveform inversion applications, fitting waves over broad regions with the potential to cover the globe.
