circFARP1 enables cancer-associated fibroblasts to promote gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer via the LIF/STAT3 axis

Chonghui Hu et al.

Summary: This study found that the CAF-specific circRNA circFARP1 plays a critical role in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), and is associated with gemcitabine resistance and poor patient survival. Mechanistically, circFARP1 regulates the interaction between CAV1, ZNRF1, and LIF, influencing the development of tumor cell stemness and drug resistance. Additionally, high levels of circFARP1 are associated with elevated serum LIF levels and poor patient survival in PDAC.

MIR22HG Aggravates Oxygen-Glucose Deprivation and Reoxygenation-Induced Cardiomyocyte Injury through the miR-9-3p/SH2B3 Axis

Yi Ge et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role and mechanism of MIR22HG in ischemia/reperfusion injury. The results showed that MIR22HG was upregulated in cardiomyocytes after ischemia/reperfusion treatment, and its knockdown promoted cell viability, inhibited apoptosis, and reduced extracellular matrix accumulation. Mechanistically, MIR22HG bound to miR-9-3p, which targeted the SH2B3 3' untranslated region, and MIR22HG positively regulated SH2B3 expression while miR-9-3p negatively regulated it.

Yessica Heras-Romero et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that spontaneous recovery after a stroke can be accelerated by the administration of extracellular vesicles released from astrocytes. The researchers used imaging techniques to observe the structural remodeling and neurological performance, and found that the recovery facilitated by astrocytic extracellular vesicles was both anatomical and functional.

Astrocyte-derived exosomal nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (Nampt) ameliorates ischemic stroke injury by targeting AMPK/mTOR signaling to induce autophagy

Yang Deng et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that exosomes derived from oxygen-glucose-deprivation/reoxygenation-stimulated astrocytes (OGD/R-ADEXs) reduced neuronal death and promoted autophagy by targeting AMPK/mTOR signaling. The enzyme Nampt released by OGD/R-ADEXs played a vital role in regulating autophagy and ameliorating acute ischemic stroke.

N6-methyladenosine-mediated CELF2 regulates CD44 alternative splicing affecting tumorigenesis via ERAD pathway in pancreatic cancer

Shihui Lai et al.

Summary: CELF2 downregulation is associated with poor prognosis in pancreatic cancer. Abnormal expression of CELF2 affects the stemness, apoptosis, and proliferation of pancreatic cancer cells. The study also reveals that CELF2-mediated CD44 alternative splicing plays a role in tumorigenesis by regulating the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation pathway.

Mayur Doke et al.

Summary: Clinical research has shown that individuals with HIV and cocaine abuse may experience behavioral and neurocognitive disorders. This study aimed to investigate the role of noncoding RNAs in gene expression regulation in astrocytes affected by HIV infection and cocaine abuse. The results revealed altered expression of several lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNA/gene targets, suggesting potential interactions that may contribute to astrocyte dysfunction and neurodegeneration caused by HIV and cocaine coexposure.
