The structural basis of herpesvirus entry

Sarah A. Connolly et al.

Summary: Herpesviruses are enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses that establish lifelong infections and cause a variety of diseases. The entry into host cells involves the binding of the virus to specific receptors and the coordinated action of multiple viral entry glycoproteins. While the core fusion machinery is conserved among all herpesviruses, each species uses distinct receptors and receptor-binding glycoproteins.

A multiplex real-time PCR quantitation of human herpesvirus-6, 7, 8 viruses: application in blood transfusions

Yi Zheng et al.

Summary: Fluorescent quantitative PCR assay is widely used for detecting viral DNA, but a new method has been developed to simultaneously detect HHV-6, 7, and 8. Through blood sample collection and PCR optimization, a triple fluorescent quantitative PCR detection system was constructed for the simultaneous detection of HHV-6, 7, and 8. The method showed good specificity and sensitivity in blood transfusion screening.

Global genome analysis reveals a vast and dynamic anellovirus landscape within the human virome

Cesar A. Arze et al.

Summary: Anelloviruses are a common component of healthy human viromes and exhibit high prevalence, with individuals carrying unique viral lineages shaped by extensive recombination. The transmission dynamics and vast diversity of these viruses provide valuable insights for future research.

A NGS-based Blood Test For the Diagnosis of Invasive HPV-associated Carcinomas with Extensive Viral Genomic Characterization

Xavier Sastre-Garau et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that HPV-associated carcinomas can be diagnosed using ctHPV DNA analysis of blood samples, with the ability to establish the complete HPV pattern observed in tumors in most cases. This could lead to the development of noninvasive diagnostic tests for personalized tumor markers.
