Unraveling the promoting roles of sulfate groups on propane combustion over Pt-SO42-/ZrO2 catalysts

Dan-Dan Li et al.

Summary: Pt-SO42-/ZrO2 catalysts with different SO42- contents were used for propane combustion. The addition of SO42- significantly improves the catalytic activity by promoting the synergy between Pt species and superacid sites for C-C bond activation. However, excessive SO42- reduces the exposed Pt sites.

Trade-off between redox ability and reactive behaviors for acrylonitrile selective catalytic combustion over the Cu-Ce-based UZM-9 catalysts

Xiaoli Wei et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the performance of acrylonitrile selective catalytic combustion over Cu-Ce-based UZM-9 catalysts, and systematically characterized the interaction between Ce and Cu using various techniques. It was found that the chemical state of Ce and Cu species strongly depended on the loading amount of Ce, with a critical Ce content of around 15%. Additionally, the presence of CeO in Cu-6.5-Ce-15% catalyst promoted the shift of Cu to the outer surface of the crystals, improving the reducibility of Cu species and enhancing the reaction activity.

Catalytic combustion of acetonitrile over CuCeOx-HZSM-5 composite catalysts with different mass ratios: The synergism between oxidation and hydrolysis reactions

Yaoyu Zhang et al.

Summary: For the catalytic oxidation of acetonitrile, the Cu-Ce loading of composite catalysts significantly influences the activity, selectivity, and mineralization rate. Highly dispersed CuOx species and Cu2+-exchanged HZSM-5 zeolite contribute to the enhanced activity and N-2 selectivity of the catalyst. Catalysts with low Cu-Ce loading tend to form carbonaceous products, leading to a decrease in the mineralization rate.

Insights into Different Reaction Behaviors of Propane and CO Oxidation over Pt/CeO2 and Pt/Nb2O5: The Crucial Roles of Support Properties

Weiyue Wang et al.

Summary: The Pt/CeO2 and Pt/Nb2O5 catalysts exhibit different activity in CO and propane oxidation, which is attributed to the different properties of the support affecting the active Pt species and reaction pathways. The high activity of Pt/CeO2 for CO oxidation is due to the facile activation of oxygen species on CeO2, while the high activity of Pt/Nb2O5 for propane oxidation is attributed to the high concentration of metallic Pt species induced by the stabilizing effect of surface acidity of Nb2O5 support.

Different roles of MoO3 and Nb2O5 promotion in short-chain alkane combustion over Pt/ZrO2 catalysts

Bingheng Cen et al.

Summary: Pt/ZrO2 catalysts promoted with MoO3 and Nb2O5 exhibit different performances in short-chain alkane combustion, with MoO3 favoring the activation of C-C bonds and Nb2O5 favoring the activation of C-H bonds with high energy. The different roles of the promoters are attributed to differences in the acidic properties of the surface and the oxidation or reduction states of the Pt species.
