Hydrogen production from tar steam reforming over hydrangea-like Co-phyllosilicate catalyst derived from Co/Sepiolite

Chunsheng Wang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of hydrangea-like Co-phyllosilicate catalysts by a template-free urea hydrothermal method using amorphous sepiolite as the silica source was reported. The combined properties of phyllosilicate exsolution and the hierarchical macro-/meso-pore architectures of hydrangea-like morphology were utilized to enhance metal dispersion and reactant activation. The catalytic performance of the synthesized xCo/SEP-PS catalysts was evaluated in simulated tar steam reforming, and the 10Co/SEP-PS catalyst showed optimal conversion and H2 yield at 700 degrees C, as well as the lowest apparent activation energy. The stability and activity of fine Co particles implanted on the Co-phyllosilicate lamella, along with the high Lewis acidity and developed pore structure of hydrangea-like Co-phyllosilicate, contributed to the excellent performance of 10Co/SEP-PS in a stability test.

Hydrogen production from catalytic steam reforming of toluene over trace of Fe and Mn doping Ni/Attapulgite

Yishuang Wang et al.

Summary: Tar formation is a major challenge in biomass gasification, but catalytic steam reforming (CSR) can potentially convert tar into hydrogen. This study successfully prepared a series of NixFeyMn/ATP catalysts and applied them to CSR of toluene, a model tar compound. The addition of trace amounts of Fe and Mn improved the catalyst's stability and activity.

Direct Observation of Rhodium Ex-Solution from a Ceria Nanodomain and Its Use for Hydrogen Production via Propane Steam Reforming

Minsu Kim et al.

Summary: Ex-solution from a ceria-based nanodomain is an effective method to prepare metal nanoparticle catalysts with a large surface area and excellent durability for gas-phase reactions at high temperatures. Rh nanoparticles ex-solved from Rh-doped ceria nanodomains showed high resistance against sintering and coke formation during the propane steam reforming process at 700 degrees C.

Yttria Modified ZrO2 Supported Ni Catalysts for CO2 Reforming of Methane: The Role of Ce Promoter

Anis H. Fakeeha et al.

Summary: In this study, Yttria modified zirconia (YZ) supported on 5% Ni-based catalysts promoted with 1-3% ceria were prepared and investigated for their performance in dry reforming of methane. The ceria-promoted catalysts showed enhanced CH4 and CO2 conversions compared to the reference catalyst, but also led to more carbon deposition.
