Effects of dispersed multiwalled carbon nanotubes on the micro-explosion and combustion characteristics of 2-methylfuran - diesel mixture droplets

Bhavishkar Ittoo et al.

Summary: The addition of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to MF-diesel blends at optimal levels improves the thermal efficiency and reduces NOx emissions during combustion. Nanofuels displayed increased micro-explosion intensity and reduced occurrences, attributed to the higher surface tension and viscosity. However, the combustion characteristics deteriorate at higher MWCNTs dosing, possibly due to nanoparticle agglomeration.

Hassan Karimi-Maleh et al.

Summary: This study successfully improved the performance of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in neutral media by tailoring a biomass-derived ORR electrocatalyst. The iron- and nitrogen-doped activated carbon framework showed superior ORR activity and long-term stability. The catalyst also demonstrated lower onset potential and better resistance to sulfur poisoning compared to the traditional platinum-based catalyst, paving the way for the development of low-cost nanocatalysts.

Pre- and post-combustion emission reduction techniques for engine fuelled with diesel/DEE blends by three approaches

K. S. Nagaprasad et al.

Summary: Experiments were conducted on a diesel engine to optimize injection parameters and evaluate the impact of exhaust gas recirculation, diesel oxidation catalyst, and diesel particulate filter on emissions. The results showed that the optimal condition for the engine was to be fueled with 20% DEE/diesel ratio at 80% load, operating with 20% EGR rate, and adopting both DPF and DOC. Performance and emission values at this condition were found to be satisfactory with improved efficiency and reduced emissions.
