Akbar Hojjati-Najafabadi et al.

Summary: In this study, gold nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using a biosynthetic strategy and used to modify an electrochemical sensor with high catalytic activity for detecting tramadol in aqueous solution. The modified sensor showed 8.8 times higher tramadol oxidation current and 20 mV lower drug oxidation potential compared to the bare electrode, with a detection limit of 6.0 nM and a linear relationship between tramadol oxidation current and concentration in the range of 0.01-400.0 M.

Magnetic-MXene-based nanocomposites for water and wastewater treatment: A review

Akbar Hojjati-Najafabadi et al.

Summary: The increase in pollutants released into water resources, such as hazardous refractory contaminations, organic dyes, pharmaceutical and pesticide contaminants, due to population growth and global industrialization, has become a major health issue worldwide. Magnetic MXene nanocomposites, which possess unique properties, easy production, low-cost preparation, and excellent pollutant degradation abilities, show great promise for various applications including biosensors, cancer theragnostic, imaging strategies, and particularly water treatment. This paper provides a review of the use of magnetic-MXene nanocomposites for removing contaminants from aqueous environments, discussing the concept of magnetic nanomaterials in water treatment, MXene applications and implications for water and wastewater pollutant degradation, and the role of magnetic-MXene nanocomposites in water treatment. Future trends in MXene and magnetic-MXene nanomaterials for water treatment and environmental applications are also discussed.

Synthesis and characterization of g-C3N4-CoFe2O4-ZnO magnetic nanocomposites for enhancing photocatalytic activity with visible light for degradation of penicillin G antibiotic

Elham Baladi et al.

Summary: Nowadays, antibiotic water pollution is a dangerous environmental threat. Photocatalysts, such as g-C3N4-Ca, Mg codoped CoFe2O4-ZnO (gCN-CFO-ZnO) nanocomposite, offer a potential solution for the removal of non-degradable organic matter in contaminated water. The degradation of penicillin G (PENG) was studied under different conditions, such as contaminant concentration, pH, and irradiation time. The results showed that the gCN-CFO-ZnO (33.33%) nanocomposite demonstrated higher efficiency in the degradation of PENG, especially in acidic conditions.

Rational Design and General Synthesis of Multimetallic Metal-Organic Framework Nano-Octahedra for Enhanced Li-S Battery

Wenting Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Mn-based multimetallic MOF nano-octahedra were successfully prepared by a facile one-pot synthetic strategy. These nano-octahedra were used as sulfur hosts to prepare cathodes for Li-S batteries, with MnNi-MIL-100@S cathode exhibiting the best performance. The strategy described here allows for the incorporation of metal ions into MOF architecture, leading to the rational generation of novel multimetallic MOFs, and enables the general synthesis and study of various micro-/nanoscale MOFs in the field of energy storage.
