From Transistors to Phototransistors by Tailoring the Polymer Stacking

Shuaiwei Cui et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of polymer stacking and aggregation on the photoresponsivity of phototransistors. It is found that while increasing the charge carrier mobility, the stacking and aggregation of polymers inhibits the dissociation of photogenerated charge carriers. By reducing polymer stacking and aggregation, rather than improving the carrier mobility, highly photosensitive polymer semiconductors can be developed.

Stimuli-Responsive Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE)-Active Polymers for Biomedical Applications

Pampa Chowdhury et al.

Summary: Most traditional luminophores suffer from aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect at high concentration or in the aggregated state, while a few fluorophores exhibit an aggregation-induced emission (AIE) feature. AIE-active polymers have advantages such as tunable emission, excellent photostability, and biocompatibility. Incorporating AIEgens into polymer design allows for diversified polymer systems with fascinating photophysical characteristics. Stimuli-responsive polymers can undergo property changes upon receiving signals. Combining AIE and stimuli responses in a single polymer platform provides a feasible and effective strategy for the development of smart polymers with promising biomedical applications.
