A simplified dispersive solid-phase extraction using a shaped zirconium-based metal-organic framework: Constructing a novel, facile and efficient method for detecting plant growth regulators in citrus fruits

Qingqing Zhang et al.

Summary: A simplified dispersive solid-phase extraction (d-SPE) method using UiO-66-PDMS bead as the sorbent was designed to analyze plant growth regulators (PGRs) in citrus fruit. This method allowed for direct extraction of the targets from homogenized samples using UiO-66-PDMS bead, which could be easily separated with a tweezer, avoiding the need for centrifugation or filtration. The method demonstrated good linearity (R2 >= 0.9995) and low detection limits (0.09-0.17 ng/g), with recoveries ranging from 80.7 to 97.5%. The method was also employed to screen PGRs in ten different citrus fruits.

Fish scale-based biochar with defined pore size and ultrahigh specific surface area for highly efficient adsorption of ciprofloxacin

Shuai Dou et al.

Summary: The fish scale-based porous activated biochar with defined pore size (DPBC) fabricated in this study exhibited a high specific surface area and pore diameter suitable for the adsorption of CIP. The adsorption process was found to be spontaneous and endothermic, with a high saturated dynamic adsorption capacity of 880.3 mg g(-1) in fixed-bed experiments. Various interactions including hydrophobic effect, pi-pi interaction, cation exchange, and hydrogen bonding were involved in the CIP adsorption on the DPBC.

Ionic Liquid Modified Porous Polymer as a Dispersive Filter Extraction Adsorbent for Simple, Sensitive, and Efficient Determination of Chlorotriazine Herbicides in Irrigation Water

Yanke Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, rapid extraction of four chlorotriazine herbicides in irrigation water was achieved using an ionic liquid modified porous m-aminophenol formaldehyde resin as a dispersive filter extraction adsorbent. Coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography, an accurate and sensitive determination method for four chlorotriazine herbicides in irrigation water was established. This method provides technical support for agricultural irrigation water quality monitoring and has great application potential in water safety, especially pesticide residues.

Red Wine High-Molecular-Weight Polyphenolic Complex: An Emerging Modulator of Human Metabolic Disease Risk and Gut Microbiota

Hao Suo et al.

Summary: Moderate red wine consumption has been linked to reduced chronic disease risk. This study found that high-molecular-weight polyphenolic complexes in red wine exhibited significant inhibitory activity against key digestive enzymes associated with metabolic syndrome. These complexes were resistant to simulated gastrointestinal digestion and were metabolized by gut microbiota, leading to enhanced antioxidant capacity and favorable modulation of gut microbiota profiles.
