LF1 regulates the lateral organs polarity development in rice

Ting Zhang et al.

Summary: The study identified a dominant rice mutant, lf1, which encodes the transcription factor LF1 that affects the polarity development of lateral organs by regulating downstream genes and activating other family genes. LF1 forms negative feedback loops with OsZPR4 and OsHOX1, influencing IAA content and thereby regulating the polarity development of lateral organs. These results reveal the interactions among HD-ZIP III, LITTLE ZIPPER, and HD-ZIP II proteins, providing insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying lateral organs polarity development.

Deciphering core-microbiome of rice leaf endosphere: Revelation by metagenomic and microbiological analysis of aromatic and non-aromatic genotypes grown in three geographical zones

Mukesh Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, the leaf endophytic microbiomes of different rice genotypes in mountain and plateau zones of India were analyzed using metagenomic NGS and conventional microbiological methods. The results showed that geographical location had a significant impact on the composition of the endophytic microbiome, with Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria being the most abundant bacterial phyla. The core microbiome analysis revealed associations of various bacterial genera with the leaf endosphere, and SparCC network analysis demonstrated complex interactions among microbial communities. This research provides valuable insights for microbiome-assisted crop management and potential microbiome reengineering strategies in the future.

Extension of Plant Phenotypes by the Foliar Microbiome

Christine V. Hawkes et al.

Summary: Despite the increasing recognition of the importance of the foliar microbiome for plant fitness, stress physiology, and yield, the diversity, function, and contribution of foliar microbiomes to plant phenotypic traits remain largely elusive. Efforts to unravel the functional importance of the foliar microbiome for plant growth, development, and ecology are ongoing, but there are still knowledge gaps that need to be addressed to maximize its potential for sustainable crop production.
