Modeling of nitrogen solubility in unsaturated, cyclic, and aromatic hydrocarbons: Deep learning methods and SAFT equation of state

Mohammad-Reza Mohammadi et al.

Summary: This study developed four deep learning models to estimate the nitrogen solubility in unsaturated, cyclic, and aromatic hydrocarbons, revealing the diminishing impact of pressure, temperature, and the critical temperature of hydrocarbons on nitrogen solubility. The findings demonstrated the excellent performance of the CNN model in estimating nitrogen solubility, contributing to the efficiency improvement of gas processing units, thermal separation, and chemical conversion processes.

Mohammad-Reza Mohammadi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on predicting the solubility of sulfur dioxide (SO2) in ionic liquids (ILs) using four soft computing methods and comparing the performance of different equations of state. The results show that the deep belief network (DBN) model is the most reliable predictive tool with an average absolute percent relative error of 3.56%. Additionally, the proposed simple to use group method of data handling (GMDH) mathematical correlation also provides good estimations with an average absolute percent relative error of 8.05%.

Application of cascade forward neural network and group method of data handling to modeling crude oil pyrolysis during thermal enhanced oil recovery

Mohammad-Reza Mohammadi et al.

Summary: This study developed general models using neural networks to predict the residual mass during crude oil pyrolysis. More than 2000 experimental data were utilized, and six optimization algorithms were applied to enhance the performance and prediction ability of the models. The CFNN model optimized with the LM algorithm showed the best fit with a mean absolute percent relative error of 1.04%. Additionally, a mathematical correlation was developed using the group method of data handling (GMDH) to estimate the residual mass of crude oil pyrolysis in TGA.

On the evaluation of crude oil oxidation during thermogravimetry by generalised regression neural network and gene expression programming: application to thermal enhanced oil recovery

Mohammad-Reza Mohammadi et al.

Summary: Enhancing oil recovery through in-situ combustion (ISC) is an appealing option for heavy crudes. This study utilized advanced machine learning systems to model crude reactions during ISC based on thermogravimetry thermo-oxidative profiles, with the Generalized Regression Neural Network (GRNN) providing the most accurate prediction. The GRNN model demonstrated an overall average absolute percent relative error of approximately 2.3% and a coefficient of determination of 0.9983, making it a reliable option for crude oils with API gravity of 5-35 and temperatures up to 820 degrees Celsius.

Temperature-responsive morphology formation of a PS-b-PI copolymer: a dissipative particle dynamics simulation study

Natthiti Chiangraeng et al.

Summary: The study explores the self-assembly responsiveness to stimuli of PS-b-PI diblock copolymer materials through classical molecular dynamics and dissipative particle dynamics simulations. A concerted relationship between parameters obtained from atomistic and DPD simulations was found, with effects of temperature, model size, and composition on morphological formation systematically investigated. Different morphologies were observed, providing a link between equilibrium copolymeric morphologies and crucial parameters.
