1D growth of Cr-rich nanophase induced by hydrogen in high-entropy alloy AlCoCrFeNi2.1

Daochen Feng et al.

Summary: One-dimensional growth of dense Cr-rich nanophase was observed in the body-centered cubic (BCC) phase of the eutectic dual-phase high-entropy alloy AlCoCrFeNi2.1 after hydrogen charging. The fast and deep diffusion of hydrogen atoms in BCC leads to abundant vacancies and dislocations, providing nucleation sites for nanophase growth. The complex interaction of dislocations, vacancies, and H atoms results in faster diffusion of Cr atoms and 1D growth of nanophase particles.

Strong yet ductile nanolamellar high-entropy alloys by additive manufacturing

Jie Ren et al.

Summary: Through laser powder bed fusion, we have successfully printed dual-phase nanolamellar high-entropy alloys with high yield strength and large uniform elongation. The high yield strength is attributed to the dual-phase structure consisting of alternating face-centred cubic and body-centred cubic nanolamellae, while the large tensile ductility arises from the high work-hardening capability of the dual-phase nanolamellae embedded in microscale eutectic colonies.

Hydrogen-induced phase boundary Cr-segregation in high-entropy alloy AlCoCrFeNi 2.1

Daochen Feng et al.

Summary: This study characterized the microstructure of the eutectic dual-phase high-entropy alloy AlCoCrFeNi 2.1 after hydrogen charging and identified the occurrence of Cr-segregation at phase boundaries. The formation mechanism of the Cr-segregation was explained through the generation of dislocations, vacancies, and diffusion of Cr atoms.

Microstructural evolution mediated creep deformation mechanism for the AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high-entropy alloy under different testing conditions

Yafei Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of microstructural evolution on the creep behavior and deformation mechanism of the AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high-entropy alloys. The results showed that precipitation behavior was responsible for the accelerated creep and reduced creep life at high temperatures. The study also revealed differences in creep deformation mechanism and fracture behavior at different temperatures.

Jiahe Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, the fracture mechanism of diamond/TiC combinations was explored using molecular dynamics simulation. It was found that the crystallographic orientation had an influence on the fracture modes, with TiC(001) and TiC(110) exhibiting plastic fracture, while TiC(111) exhibiting brittle fracture.

Thermal stability, microstructure and texture evolution of thermomechanical processed AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high entropy alloy

M. H. Asoushe et al.

Summary: The microstructural and textural evolutions of as-cast high entropy alloy were investigated during thermomechanical processing at temperatures ranging from 25 to 500 degrees Celsius. The alloy exhibited significant strength-ductility ratio at room temperature and maintained mechanical stability at elevated temperatures. The volume fractions of constituent phases and the texture of the alloy were found to be consistent across different deformation temperatures.

Elevated-temperature Deformation Mechanisms in a CrMnFeCoNi High-Entropy Alloy

M. Zhang et al.

Summary: The stress reduction creep experiments on a CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy at 1073 K revealed the dominant role of solid solution hardening mechanism in the creep behavior, with variations in behavior observed at different applied stresses. The study provides valuable insights for understanding the high temperature mechanical behavior of this alloy and suggests the potential for developing a unified treatment for dislocation glide kinetics across a range of temperatures.

Uncovering the critical factor governing the fatigue crack propagation under the coexistence of multi-interfaces in AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high-entropy alloy

Yafei Li et al.

Summary: The study on AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high-entropy alloys revealed that B2II precipitates have a priority in the precipitation sequence during thermal exposure, resulting in a waved fatigue-crack growth curve after exposure. Long-term thermal exposure significantly increased the fatigue-crack growth resistance, attributed to the evolution of high-angle grain boundaries, average size, and number density of precipitates in the aged EHEAs.

Remarkable thermal stability of the Al-Ca-Ni-Mn alloy manufactured by laser-powder bed fusion

P. K. Shurkin et al.

Summary: The microstructure and hardness of the Al-Ca-Ni-Mn alloy fabricated by laser-powder bed fusion were studied in the as-built condition and after annealing at 200-400 degrees C for 3 hours. A decrease in hardness was observed after exposure at 300 degrees C, attributed to the growth of primary and eutectic phases. The eutectic phase played the most significant role in hardening.

Improving high-temperature mechanical properties of cast CrFeCoNi high-entropy alloy by highly thermostable in-situ precipitated carbides

X. W. Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, significant high-temperature strengthening of cast CrFeCoNi HEA was achieved by in-situ precipitation of highly thermostable carbides, addressing the insufficient medium- and high-temperature strengths. The high thermostability of the microstructure, formed by the synergy of lacking growth driving force and Zenner pinning effect by carbides, contributes to the improved mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. The strengthening effect is mainly attributed to the precipitation hardening of carbide particles, leading to increased yield strength and ultimate tensile strength with enhanced elongation at higher temperatures.

A novel joining of Cf/C composites using AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high-entropy brazing filler alloys

Haitao Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel brazing of C-f/C composites using AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high-entropy alloys as the interlayer was successfully achieved. The joints were found to have a typical structure of C-f/C zone, continuous metallic layer, and filling phases. Increasing the brazing temperature led to higher average shear strength and the formation of a hybrid structure in the joints.
