An Experimental Comprehensive Analysis of Drilling Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Tubes and Comparison With Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Plate

Sezer Morkavuk et al.

Summary: This study compares the drilling machinability of CFRP tubes and CFRP plates produced by different methods. Experimental results show that the plate generates more force and damage during drilling compared to the tubes, making it more difficult to machine. The filament wound tube exhibits higher thrust force and damage compared to the roll wrapped tube. Additionally, the use of support does not increase the thrust force in composite tubes, but significantly improves drilling-induced delamination damage behavior. The plate provides better borehole surface quality compared to the tubes, but more dust chip formation is observed.

Optimization of Cutting Parameters in Turning of Titanium Alloy (Grade 5) by Analysing Surface Roughness, Tool Wear and Energy Consumption

H. Akkus et al.

Summary: Through the analysis of the turning process and results of Ti 6Al-4 V (grade 5) ELI alloy, it was found that high tool wear increases surface roughness and energy consumption. The multiple optimization results showed prediction accuracy of 89.1% for surface roughness, 58.33% for tool wear, and 96.75% for energy consumption. By controlling energy consumption, surface quality can be maintained and tool wear can be controlled.

Effects of Solution Temperature and Aging Time on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of TG6 Titanium Alloy

Renhai Yu et al.

Summary: The study found that the microstructure and mechanical properties of TG6 titanium alloy are influenced by solution temperature and aging time, with 48 hours being the optimal aging time. In addition, an increase in solution temperature leads to a gradual increase in hardness, while aging time has a slight effect on hardness.

Influence of extrusion parameters on drilling machinability of AZ31 magnesium alloy

Ugur Koklu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of different extrusion ratios on the drilling machinability of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The results show that thrust force and borehole quality are influenced by the extrusion ratio and cutting parameters. The highest thrust force and surface roughness occur when drilling AZ31 alloy produced with the highest extrusion ratio, while the sample produced with an intermediate extrusion ratio has the best hole edge quality and least burr formation.

Cu-assisted austenite reversion and enhanced TRIP effect in maraging stainless steels

M. C. Niu et al.

Summary: Control of the formation and stability of reverted austenite is critical in achieving a favorable combination of strength, ductility, and toughness in high-strength steels. The effects of Cu precipitation on the austenite reversion and mechanical properties of maraging stainless steels were investigated. Cu accelerates the austenite reversion kinetics by increasing the equilibrium austenite fraction and serving as heterogeneous nucleation sites. Cu precipitation hardening compensates the strength drop induced by the formation of soft reverted austenite.

Investigation of microstructure, mechanical and machinability properties of Mo-added steel produced by powder metallurgy method

Mehmet Akif Erden et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of molybdenum inclusion on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and machinability of steels manufactured using the powder metallurgy approach. The results indicated that steel with 3% Mo displayed the highest yield and tensile strength. Furthermore, an increase in Mo content led to higher yield and tensile strength and a decrease in strain, while coated cutting tools showed better machining output in terms of environmental impact.
