Geometric Model and Numerical Study of Aqueous Humor Hydrodynamics in the Human Eye

Hao Tang et al.

Summary: Studying the mechanism of aqueous humor dynamics in the human eye is of great significance for the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases. In this study, image processing technology and simulation methods were used to analyze the factors affecting aqueous humor flow and found that changes in eye tissue morphological structures and physical properties could affect the flow of aqueous humor.

Vascular Permeability in Diseases

Jean-Luc Wautier et al.

Summary: The study of vascular permeability is important for understanding the mechanism that maintains the exchange between blood, tissues, and organs. Recent research has provided a better understanding of vascular cell functions and interactions between blood vessels. The identification of endothelial cell receptors and mediators and their role in homeostasis and disease has shed light on the maintenance of vascular permeability. Additionally, drugs and specific antibodies have been found to reduce the severity and mortality of diseases with enhanced vascular permeability.

Alpha-Smooth Muscle Actin Expression and Parafoveal Blood Flow Pathways Are Altered in Preclinical Diabetic Retinopathy

Dong An et al.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in alpha SMA expression and parafoveal blood flow pathways in diabetic retinopathy. The results showed that perfusion abnormalities occur early in preclinical DR and there are changes in blood flow direction in the parafoveal region.

Single-Cell Analysis of Blood-Brain Barrier Response to Pericyte Loss

Maarja A. Mae et al.

Summary: Through single-cell RNA sequencing and other methods, the study revealed the transcriptional, morphological, and functional changes in brain endothelial cells in response to pericyte deficiency. Endothelial cells without pericyte contact maintain a BBB-specific gene expression profile and acquire a venous-shifted molecular pattern.

Changes in Iris Stiffness and Permeability in Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

Satish K. Panda et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the biomechanical properties of the iris during pupil constriction and found that iris stiffness was higher in PACG patients compared to healthy controls, while iris permeability was lower. These findings may have implications for the management of angle-closure glaucoma.
