The impact of surgical volume on perioperative safety after urethroplasty: a population-based study

Giuseppe Basile et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the impact of hospital annual surgical volume (ASV) on the risk of perioperative complications after urethroplasty. Data from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample between 2001 and 2015 were analyzed, and hospitals were categorized into low, intermediate, and high volume centers based on the ASV. The results showed that patients treated in low and intermediate volume centers had a higher risk of perioperative complications, indicating the importance of categorizing institutions based on urethroplasty outcomes.
