A Combined Near-Infrared and Mid-Infrared Spectroscopic Approach for the Detection and Quantification of Glycine in Human Serum

Thulya Chakkumpulakkal Puthan Veettil et al.

Summary: Serum is a valuable source for proteomics analysis, but the high concentration range of protein/peptide species makes it challenging to detect low-molecular-weight compounds. In this study, a combination of near-infrared and mid-infrared spectroscopy was used to improve the detection limit of LMW amino acids in serum.

Glycine, a Dispensable Amino Acid, Is Conditionally Indispensable in Late Stages of Human Pregnancy

Betina F. Rasmussen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether healthy pregnant women at midgestation and late gestation have a dietary demand for glycine, a dispensable amino acid. The results demonstrated that in late gestation, lower glycine intakes resulted in lower protein synthesis rates and lower glycine availability.

Effect of Low Protein Diets with Amino Acids Supplementation on Growth Performance, Carcass Traits, Blood Parameters and Muscle Amino Acids Profile in Broiler Chickens under High Ambient Temperature

Ahmed A. Saleh et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of low protein diets with amino acid supplements on growth, biochemical markers, and muscle amino acid profiles in broilers under high ambient temperature. Results showed that feeding broilers low protein diets with the same amino acid levels did not have adverse effects on growth, carcass markers, and liver function. However, increasing amino acid levels in low protein diets may have negative impacts on broiler performance under high ambient temperature.

A finger-jointing model for describing ultrastructures of cellulose microfibrils

Bunshi Fugetsu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a finger-jointing model to describe the ultrastructures of cellulose microfibrils, based on observations of TEMPO oxidized CNFs heated in saturated water vapor. Through XRD and HR-TEM analysis, it was discovered that cellulose microfibrils are jointed structures of shorter blocks, with polysaccharide chains organized in I beta. The jointed structure suggests a working and resting rhythm in cellulose biosynthesis.
