Hybrid gelatin/oxidized chondroitin sulfate hydrogels incorporating bioactive glass nanoparticles with enhanced mechanical properties, mineralization, and osteogenic differentiation

Lei Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, hybrid gelatin/oxidized chondroitin sulfate hydrogels incorporating mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles were developed for bone regeneration. The addition of MBGNs enhanced the mechanical properties and accelerated gelation, while also promoting proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of stem cells in vitro and bone defect restoration in vivo. These hybrid hydrogels show promising potential as injectable biomaterials or scaffolds for bone regeneration applications.

Cytocompatible dendrimer G3.0-hematin nanoparticle with high stability and solubility for mimicking horseradish peroxidase activity in in-situ forming hydrogel

Van Toan Nguyen et al.

Summary: The study introduces a nanosized biomimetic catalyst, hematin-decorated polyamidoamine dendrimer (G3.0-He), which effectively catalyzes the in situ hydrogelation of phenol-conjugated polymers under neutral pH conditions. The catalyst exhibits excellent enzyme mimetic functions and remains active even at high H2O2 concentration.

Hematin-conjugated gelatin as an effective catalyst for preparing biological hydrogels

Tan Phuoc Ton et al.

Summary: The newly designed Ge-He compound, created by conjugating a molecule onto gelatin, effectively improves the catalytic effectiveness of hematin in neutral conditions, exhibiting better catalytic efficiency and stability than free hematin. Additionally, the Ge-He biocatalyst demonstrates rapid gelation similar to HRP-mediated hydrogels in the preparation of hydrogels, while also showing good compatibility with cells, with 100% viability of human fibroblast cells in vitro.

Injectable silanized hyaluronic acid hydrogel/biphasic calcium phosphate granule composites with improved handling and biodegradability promote bone regeneration in rabbits

Killian Flegeau et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the successful incorporation of BCP granules with Si-HA and Si-HPMC hydrogels to create injectable, fast-hardening composites with similar mechanical properties. In vivo, Si-HA/BCP composites promoted bone regeneration while Si-HPMC/BCP composites led to poor bone healing in critical size rabbit defects.
