Application of a transition metal oxide/carbon-based nanocomposite for designing a molecularly imprinted poly (L-cysteine) electrochemical sensor for curcumin

Arash Mohammadinejad et al.

Summary: An electrochemical sensor was developed for detecting curcumin, a functional herbal food. The sensor was fabricated using a molecularly imprinted polymer and a highly conductive transition metal oxide/carbon-based nano composite, which demonstrated good detection performance. The proposed method showed potential for detecting curcumin in biological samples.

pH-sensitive molecularly imprinted polymer based on graphene oxide for stimuli actuated controlled release of curcumin

Roya Sedghi et al.

Summary: A new pH responsive CUR imprinted polymer GO@CUR-MIP was synthesized and showed high adsorption capacity and selectivity for CUR, with controlled and sustained release in response to environmental pH changes. The pH responsiveness of the system led to targeted drug delivery potential, while the inclusion complex improved drug interaction with the nanocomposite. The novel system has potential in separation and drug delivery processes.

Medicinal plants and bioactive natural products as inhibitors of NLRP3 inflammasome

Mohammad Bagherniya et al.

Summary: The NLRP3 inflammasome is a multiprotein complex that is activated by a wide range of danger signals resulting from metabolic dysregulation. Nutraceuticals and medicinal plants have antiinflammatory properties and can be used as complementary therapy in chronic diseases related to inflammation by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Herb-based medicine has shown protective effects against NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Protective Effects of Curcumin against Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Toxicity

Ali Ganji et al.

Summary: Curcumin exerts anti-inflammatory effects by interfering with LPS-induced inflammatory pathways, potentially reducing the pathophysiological consequences of LPS toxicity. Further clinical studies are needed to confirm the efficacy of Curcumin in reducing inflammatory responses. Curcumin has the potential to become a promising drug for the treatment of LPS toxicity in the future.

The clinical use of curcumin on neurological disorders: An updated systematic review of clinical trials

Maryam Mohseni et al.

Summary: Curcumin has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in neurological disorders, with positive impacts on oxidative stress and inflammation. While it may provide beneficial effects on clinical outcomes for various neurodegenerative diseases, adverse side effects were reported in some studies. Overall, curcumin supplementation may have favorable effects on inflammatory status and clinical outcomes in patients with neurological diseases, although the results were not consistently positive.

Therapeutic effect of curcumin in gastrointestinal cancers: A comprehensive review

Korosh Morshedi et al.

Summary: Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers have a high global prevalence and are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Curcumin, a naturally occurring compound with documented safety and anticancer activities, shows promise in the treatment of GI cancers but is limited by its low solubility and chemical stability in water. Strategies such as using analogues or novel delivery systems may help overcome these limitations for more effective clinical applications.
