By restoring autophagic flux and improving mitochondrial function, corosolic acid protects against Dox-induced cardiotoxicity

Yan Che et al.

Summary: Corosolic acid (CRA) has shown protective effects against doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiotoxicity by promoting transcription factor EB (TFEB) nuclear translocation, reducing apoptosis, and decreasing oxidative stress. CRA activates TFEB in an AMPK alpha 2-dependent manner to protect against Dox cardiotoxicity by restoring autophagic flux and improving mitochondrial structure and function.

MicroRNA-34c-5p provokes isoprenaline-induced cardiac hypertrophy by modulating autophagy via targeting ATG4B

Yuhong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that miR-34c-5p is involved in isoprenaline-induced cardiac hypertrophy by suppressing ATG4B and autophagy. Regulation of miR-34c-5p may offer a new way for handling hypertrophy-related cardiac dysfunction.

GDF11 alleviates secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage via attenuating mitochondrial dynamic abnormality and dysfunction

Anqi Xiao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the neuroprotective effect of GDF11 in alleviating various neurological damages caused by ICH and improving mitochondrial function and structural impairment. Treatment with antioxidants showed similar effects. Further experiments showed that inhibition of mitochondrial division could attenuate mitochondrial functional defects and neuronal damages.
