Adaptive partition-based SDDP algorithms for multistage stochastic linear programming with fixed recourse

Murwan Siddig et al.

Summary: This paper extends the adaptive partition-based approach to solve multi-stage stochastic programming problems and integrates it with the SDDP algorithm, proposing two different partition refinement strategies. Numerical experiments on a hydro-thermal power generation planning problem demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm using the refinement outside SDDP strategy compared to the standard SDDP algorithm and algorithms using the refinement within SDDP strategy.

DISTRIBUTIONALLY ROBUST TWO-STAGE STOCHASTIC PROGRAMMING

Daniel Duque et al.

Summary: Distributionally robust optimization is a modeling paradigm used for stochastic optimization models where the distribution of random parameters is unknown. We study two-stage stochastic programs under distributional ambiguity and propose several distributionally robust models with different ambiguity sets. We focus on using the Wasserstein distance and optimal quadratic transport distance to construct the set of probability distributions, considering both unbounded and bounded support sets. We also develop cutting-plane algorithms to solve related problems.

Food supply chain management in disaster events: A systematic literature review

Tomy Perdana et al.

Summary: This article conducts a systematic literature review on research into the management of food supply chains in disaster events. The identified articles are analyzed to determine research objectives, methodologies, threats from different types of disasters, and proposed solutions. The article uncovers a research gap in humanitarian food supply chains and presents suggested research directions.

A bi-objective robust optimization model for disaster response planning under uncertainties

Huali Sun et al.

Summary: This paper presents a bi-objective robust optimization model for strategic and operational response in emergency situations, considering uncertainties in facility location, resource allocation, and casualty transportation plans. The model aims to minimize the sum of ISS for all casualties and total system costs, while maximizing the transport number of casualties and satisfaction of supplies demand. Through robust optimization and case studies based on the Yushu Earthquake, the feasibility and validity of the model is demonstrated, along with sensitivity analyses to balance optimization and robustness.
