Atomic manganese coordinated to nitrogen and sulfur for oxygen evolution

Xue Bai et al.

Summary: By regulating the electronic structure of isolated single-atom metal sites, high-performance, active and durable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts can be fabricated. In graphene nanosheets, single-atom manganese coordinated to nitrogen and sulfur species serves as an OER catalyst with low overpotential, showing comparable catalytic performance to the benchmark catalyst.

Unveiling the active sites of ultrathin Co-Fe layered double hydroxides for the oxygen evolution reaction

Xue Bai et al.

Summary: This study presents a facile method for synthesizing ultrathin CoFe-based LDHs and reveals their high performance in OER. The Co site is identified as the main active center, and the doping of Fe accelerates the charge-transfer process. Surface Co sites are found to be the active centers for OER, while excessive subsurface Fe doping weakens OH* adsorption and increases the energy barrier of the rate-determining step.

Iron-Catalyzed Water Oxidation: O-O Bond Formation via Intramolecular Oxo-Oxo Interaction

Hong-Tao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study highlights the significance of structure regulation in the O-O bond formation process in binuclear iron catalysts. While some catalysts proceed via oxo-oxo coupling, others with rigid ligands show negligible catalytic activity due to limited isomerization and rotation of Fe=O moieties.
