Improvement of Al2O3 on the multi-pollutant control performance of NOx and chlorobenzene in vanadia-based catalysts

Shixuan Yu et al.

Summary: The Al2O3 doped catalyst showed improved performance in terms of active temperature range, NOx and CB removal efficiencies, resistance to SO2, and reduction of polychlorinated byproducts compared to the SiO2 doped catalyst and V2O5-MoO3/TiO2. The enhanced low temperature activity is attributed to the promotion of vanadia reducibility by interactions between V2O5 and Al2O3, while the high temperature activity is due to additional surface acidities provided by Al2O3, with Lewis acid sites playing a predominant role. Al2O3 is suggested as an effective addition to vanadia-based catalysts for simultaneous removal of NOx and CB from stationary sources.

Formic Acid-Mediated Regeneration Strategy for As-Poisoned V2O5-WO3/TiO2 Catalysts with Lossless Catalytic Activity and Simultaneous As Recycling

Yong Yin et al.

Summary: Regeneration of spent V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalysts, especially those containing hazardous As, is highly desirable. A formic acid-mediated regeneration strategy has been developed to achieve superior catalytic activity, short timescale regeneration, and recycling of nontoxic metallic As. The optimal regenerated catalyst shows 98.3% activity of the fresh catalyst with 99.1% As removal and less than 1.8% V loss within 15 minutes.

The poisoning effect of sintering dust on V2O5-WO3/TiO2catalyst for NOxremoval in iron ore sintering flue gas

Li-xin Qian et al.

Summary: In this study, the poisoning effects of K(2)SO(4) and CaSO(4) on VWTi catalyst in the removal of NO(x) from iron ore sintering flue gas were investigated. The results showed that the SCR activity decreased with increasing concentrations of the doped poisoning precursors, which could be attributed to the decreased reducibility of vanadium species and lower content of surface chemisorbed oxygen. Characterization of the poisoned catalysts revealed migration of V 2p(3/2) towards lower binding energy, reduced NH(3) desorption, and elimination of V=O stretching vibration bond.

Summary: The study found that oxygen enhanced the deactivation of V2O5-WO3-TiO2 caused by arsenic, but had a contrasting impact on the arsenic poisoning process of γ-Fe2O3. Additionally, temperature suppressed the deactivation effect of arsenic on both V2O5-WO3-TiO2 and γ-Fe2O3.

Bimodal effect of water on V2O5/TiO2 catalysts with different vanadium species in the simultaneous NO reduction and 1,2-dichlorobenzene oxidation

J. A. Martin-Martin et al.

Summary: The study found that water has different effects on the NO reduction and o-DCB oxidation reactions under different conditions, mainly depending on the vanadium species and temperature. At high temperatures, water inhibits side reactions, increasing selectivity towards N2; at low temperatures, water helps to reduce the adsorption of harmful species, improving activity.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of arsenic on a commercial catalyst, revealing that arsenic decreased the formation energy of oxygen vacancy and promoted the formation of more toxic polychlorinated byproducts. Arsenic also affected the deNO(x) reaction and promoted the oxidation of NO to NO2, which in turn facilitated the oxidation of chlorobenzene.

Summary: This study used V-51 magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance to observe structural changes of surface vanadia species on low surface vanadia density V2O5/TiO2 catalysts under hydrated versus dehydrated conditions. The incorporation of tungsten oxide was found to better stabilize the vanadia species on the titania support upon hydration.
